Damp If You Do, Damp If You Don't
It’s the humid season in DC. The temperature isn’t so bad that you need air conditioning, but the damp — especially in an “English Basement” — is awful. So the choices are:
- Leave the windows open for “fresh air” and have a damp apartment;
- Run the air conditioning — but it has to be set colder than necessary to dry the air out enough, which runs up the electric bill;
- Run the dehumidifier, which generates its own strange smell, and also warrants turning on the air conditioner, so let’s just run up the electric bill even more, shall we?
Blah. I’ll probably cave and turn the AC on again tonight, but I won’t be happy about it. I won’t be happy either way, really.
